CHOCOLATE “BABKA” CAKE – EASTER RECIPE – It’s a chocolate lover’s dream 🙂 This traditional Easter cake will make a fine addition to your table for other celebrations too 🙂
CHOCOLATE “BABKA” CAKE – EASTER RECIPE
Ingredients:
- 250 g/2 cups wheat flour
- 2 eggs
- 150 g/¾ cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 4 tbsp cocoa
- 125 g/4½ oz butter, plus extra for greasing
- 125 ml/½ cup milk
- bread crumbs
Glaze:
- 150 g/5¼ oz milk chocolate
- 1 tbsp butter
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C/360°F. Grease and line a 22cm/8½ in bundt pan with bread crumbs.
- Take a small saucepan and pour the milk inside, then add butter and sugar. Warm it up over small heat until everything melts and merges. Put away to cool down.
- In a large bowl mix together flour, baking powder and cocoa. Add the eggs and cooled down milk with sugar then whisk well until a smooth dough forms.
- Pour the dough into the bundt pan and bake for around 45 minutes.
- For the glaze, melt and mix the chocolate with butter in a sauce pan. Cover the top of your “babka” with it once the cake cools down, then wait for it to solidify before serving.
