MEAT BROTH – HOMEMADE RECIPE – Probably the most common among soups in Polish cuisine, known as “Rosół”. Usually made with several types of meat, it’s a great choice for any Sunday afternoon meal.



  • 2 l/ 0,5 gal water
  • 600 g/ 20 oz beef shin
  • 1 onion
  • ½ chicken
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 carrots
  • ¼ celery root
  • Piece of leek
  • 1 parsley root
  • ½ parsley bunch, plus extra for serving
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 allspice berries


  1. Pour the water into a pot, then add washed meat and salt
  2. Peel all vegetables, cut the carrots and leek in half and the parsley root into four pieces. Put it all in the pot along
  3. with parsley bunch, bay leaf and allspice. Cook everything on small fire for about an hour
  4. Fire an onion by holding it above the gas stove until black marks start appearing on each side or frying it on a pan from each side. Add the onion to the soup and cook for another hour
  5. Broth can be drained before serving to avoid unwanted elements on a plate. Serve sprinkled with parsley
