HOMEMADE EGG CASSEROLE – BEST RECIPE
Ingredients:
- 9 eggs
- 1 wheat bun
- 2 tbsp butter, plus extra for greasing
- 120 g/4¼ oz prosciutto or similar smoked ham
- 3 tsp mustard
- 170 ml/¾ cup milk
- 150 g/5 oz cheese
- salt
- black pepper
- fresh chive, for serving
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C/390°F
- Dice the bun and fry on a pan over warmed up butter until they are crispy. Alternatively you can get a bag of pre-made croutons.
- Hard boil 6 of the eggs (bring the water to boil with the eggs inside and cook for 8 more minutes). Cool them down in cold water, peel and cut each in half.
- Grease a rectangular baking dish with butter. Line the bottom with ham then spread the mustard on it. On top of that lay down the egg halves, flat side down. Set the whole dish aside.
- Take a medium bowl. Pour milk inside, add the remaining 3 eggs and finely grated cheese. Beat everything well. Pour the prepared mixture over the eggs in the dish. Add the croutons at the end.
- Bake for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with freshly chopped chive before serving.
