THE BEST COUNTRY STEW RECIPE – delicious dish, bound to warm you up 🙂 It can easily feed your whole family and still have some left 🙂


  • 200 g/7 oz sausage
  • 200 g/7 oz smoked bacon
  • 1 can of white beans, drained
  • 1 red pepper
  • 500 ml/17 fl oz water
  • 1 onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 500 ml/2 cups tomato passata
  • 200 g/7 oz mushrooms
  • 300 g/10½ oz potatoes
  • 1 tsp powdered sweet pepper
  • ½ tsp powdered hot pepper
  • 1 tsp marjoram
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic, pressed
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • oil
  • parsley, for serving

  1. Wash all vegetables throughly. Slice the sausage and finely dice the bacon, onion and red pepper. Peel and roughly dice potatoes as well. Peel the carrots and slice them, as well as mushrooms.
  2. Heat up some oil on a deep skillet pan or pot and cook the bacon until it starts to brown. Add sausage and onion then continue cooking until the onion gets translucent, stirring from time to time.
  3. Throw the carrots, red pepper and mushrooms into the pot and keep frying. Next, add the spices: marjoram, sweet and hot pepper, garlic, salt and black pepper. Stir everything.
  4. Put potatoes inside and pour water over everything. Cook until potatoes go soft.
  5. When potatoes are done, add tomato passata and drained beans, then boil the stew for around 10 minutes, mixing from time to time. Serve sprinkled with freshly chopped parsley.
