POLISH “PYZY” DUMPLINGS RECIPE – Pyzy are one of traditional polish dishes, a type of dumplings, usually made with potatoes. They are easily prepared, taste delicious and can even be stuffed for extra flavour 🙂
POLISH “PYZY” DUMPLINGS RECIPE
Ingredients:
- 1,5 kg/53 oz potatoes
- 2 tbsp potato starch
- 2 tbsp wheat flour, plus extra for dusting
- onion, for serving
Method:
- Peel and boil 1 kg/35 oz of potatoes, then mash them or run through a press. Peel the rest of potatoes and grate them on the smallest holes, then squeeze the juice out.
- Put the mashed potatoes into a large bowl and add the grated ones. Pour the flour and potato starch, then add 1 tsp of salt. Mix and knead everything well.
- From a prepared mass form small balls, around 5 cm/2 in in diameter
- Boil water in a medium pot with 1 tsp of salt. Cook formed pyzy in it for 2-3 minutes, until they start floating on the surface. Serve with cooked onion
