SECHUAN CHICKEN HOMEMADE RECIPE – A simple yet tasty meal in asian style that can easily be prepared at home. It takes some time to make but it’s worth it
SECHUAN CHICKEN HOMEMADE RECIPE
Ingredients:
- 500 g/18 oz skinless chicken breast
- 1 carrot
- 2 tbsp tomato concentrate
- 1 red pepper
- 1 yellow pepper
- 2 cloves of garlic, pressed
- 1 onion
- 1½ tsp powdered sweet pepper
- ½ tsp powdered hot pepper
- 1 tbsp honey
- ¼ tsp dried ginger
- 2 tbsp light soy sauce
- around 250 ml/1 cup water
- 1 tbsp potato starch
- black pepper
- oil
- sesame seeds, for serving
Method:
- Cut the chicken, carrot and both peppers into thin slices. Dice the onion finely.
- In a pot on medium heat, warm up the oil and place the onion inside. Season with salt and cook for a while, stirring from time to time.
- When the onion gets soft, but before it starts turning brown, add the chicken and pour in the soy sauce. Cook until it’s no longer pink from the outside.
- Put the carrot, as well as the red and yellow pepper into the pot. Keep cooking until the vegetables become semi-soft.
- Pour the water over the rest and add honey, ginger, pressed garlic and tomato concentrate, as well as both sweet and hot powdered pepper.
- Stir everything well and boil for few minutes. After that, take two tablespoons of the mixture and mix it with the potato starch in a separate container, then pour it back into the pot.
- Cook the chicken for few more minutes. Serve with sesame seeds sprinkled on top.
