SECHUAN CHICKEN HOMEMADE RECIPE – A simple yet tasty meal in asian style that can easily be prepared at home. It takes some time to make but it’s worth it



  • 500 g/18 oz skinless chicken breast
  • 1 carrot
  • 2 tbsp tomato concentrate
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • 2 cloves of garlic, pressed
  • 1 onion
  • 1½ tsp powdered sweet pepper
  • ½ tsp powdered hot pepper
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ¼ tsp dried ginger
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • around 250 ml/1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp potato starch
  • black pepper
  • oil
  • sesame seeds, for serving


  1. Cut the chicken, carrot and both peppers into thin slices. Dice the onion finely.
  2. In a pot on medium heat, warm up the oil and place the onion inside. Season with salt and cook for a while, stirring from time to time.
  3. When the onion gets soft, but before it starts turning brown, add the chicken and pour in the soy sauce. Cook until it’s no longer pink from the outside.
  4. Put the carrot, as well as the red and yellow pepper into the pot. Keep cooking until the vegetables become semi-soft.
  5. Pour the water over the rest and add honey, ginger, pressed garlic and tomato concentrate, as well as both sweet and hot powdered pepper.
  6. Stir everything well and boil for few minutes. After that, take two tablespoons of the mixture and mix it with the potato starch in a separate container, then pour it back into the pot.
  7. Cook the chicken for few more minutes. Serve with sesame seeds sprinkled on top.
